I'm been asked to write an article about "why young guys today don't save as much money as their folks" -- or their grandparents, who basically used to save bits of string. Personal savings-rates have steadily dropped over the last few decades, while debt levels have skyrocketed, and it's due heavily to the meager savings of folks aged 20 to 40.
So I'm interviewing any guys in that age-range who have slim savings and/or lots of debt, to find out how they got in that situation and what they think of it! (It's guys only, because this is for a men's magazine.) If anyone wants to share their experience for this piece, email me! I don't bite. Heh.

A somewhat related article in the WSJ Why You Waste So Much Money
"Research suggests consumers often pay too much for services ranging from gym memberships to movie-rental clubs, because they overestimate how often they will use them. The studies, by a variety of economists around the country, are part of a growing movement to examine the role of self-control in spending, which affects everything from how you enroll in a 401(k) plan to whether you remember to use a gift card."
