Drug-running giant squid
The giant-squid beat just keeps getting weirder and weirder. According to the BBC:
Police in Peru have seized about 700kg of cocaine hidden in frozen giant squid bound for Mexico and the US.
The drugs - worth about $17.5m - were sealed in several layers of plastic and other wrapping material and covered in pepper to divert sniffer dogs.
No comment necessary -- or, really, even possible.

Have you somehow linked a google alerts query based on "Giant Squid" with an alarm clock?
Do you tell your wife you're just going to grab a glass of milk while you scuttle about the internet in search of the squid?
Seriously - a coffee table book is needed on this subject and I for one nominate you to rise to the challenge.
The gloves are off - I'm setting up more google news queries than ever before, all centred around breaking giant squid news. I WILL get the drop on you for a future squid posting....

I agree, Dark Liquid: These are clearly dangerous times.
Brian, I can take no credit for being quick on the draw with this one: I had not one, but three seperate readers all email me with this news item in the last 24 hours! Clearly, people are already self-organizing into a crack giant-squid-news-team.
Though the idea of setting up a Google News alert is good too!
