Just outta beta

I normally avoid blogging about my life, but this is one personal event I couldn't pass up: On December 27, at 7:29, my son Gabriel Ezra Thompson was born. He's healthy, happy, and if I do say so myself, insanely cute. That's a picture of him above. On the right.

I will be blogging only sporadically for the next few weeks; indeed, I will be thinking only sporadically for the next few weeks, given the sketchy sleep cycles that currently dominate my existence.

We now return you to your regular programming!

Wowee! Congrats to you both, and welcome to Ezra. *He* might be out of beta, but parenting is one long night of bug chasing and core dumps, split with flickering, stunning screens of grinning brilliance.

And, I'm with John -- I'd love to see what the posts are like after days and nights of milk and poop.

Congrats! Not all babies are as cute as that, that's for sure.

I predict a rise in children's video games-related posts in the next few years, should the blog survive the infant years.

Does that make him Gabriel Ezra v 1.0? Oh, and remember the Baby Name Wizard? (http://www.collisiondetection.net/mt/archives/2005/03/hey_there_remin.html)

Check out Ezra on that list. Looks like some sort of 1800's revival name.

Steve, heh, yes, I'm a bit worried that the "science of children" posts will spin out of control, but I'll try to keep a lid on it. That's wild about Ezra's increasing popularity!

As to everyone else's comments, yep, the bugchecking process should be fascinating, and the hallucinatory posts will be aplenty. I may actually get some time free to upload some delirium later this evening ....
